Thought for today. It is easy to look at our political culture, regardless of your political views or affiliations, and put our trust or lack thereof in our political leaders. I see so many people who have convinced themselves that the next President is the answer to all of our problems. Sometimes we see our military as the place we place our faith. Doing these things can become chasing after other gods. We need to remember that God is on His throne. He is not elected and never leaves. He is working out His sovereign will for our nation in a manner that fits best with His sovereign plan. We need to remind ourselves that we are in end times and our nation is not our God.
No matter who becomes our President, God turns that person’s heart wherever He desires. No King or President is above God’s will and sovereign plan. Let’s relax a bit and commit to putting our trust in God rather than a President.
Proverbs 21:1 (ESV) — 1 The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will.
Can you imagine what would happen if everyone was as passionate about God and desperate for His plan and His solution for our nation as they are their political candidates?
2 Chronicles 7:14 (ESV) — 14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
Psalm 115:3 (NIV84) — 3 Our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him.
Let’s commit today to seeking His face and turning from our wicked trust in a political process to save our nation. Let’s seek God’s face, vote our conscience, but then trust Him to do whatever pleases Him.
